Design Obsession times 1 million..... Lee Kleinhelter & her "Pieces"

I have often referred to Lee Kleinhelter, and her beautiful store, Pieces on this blog.

The store focuses mostly on vintage pieces of furniture that have been refurbished, but I'm starting to see some custom pieces designed by Mrs. Kleinhelter.

To me, it has a very 1960's vibe, which of course, I adore.

Pieces is one of the first places I look to for inspiration, whether it's for a room I want to redecorate or a piece of furniture that I plan to repurpose.

I've often heard people remark about designers that " You either GET IT, or you don't".
And let me tell you folks, Kleinhelter GETS IT.

I admire her unabashed use of color in her interiors and her perfect mix of sleek mid-century modern pieces with rustic elements.

As for her store, I'm just IN LOVE.
I can't wait for my next trip to Atlanta so I can actually see it in person.

A little sampling of Mrs. Kleinhelter's work.....

Her own home.
Love how she mixes the rustic wood armoire with mid-century chairs and a white lacquer table.

LOVE this twin bedroom.
I used it as inspiration for the bunk room at my mother's Beach House.

I want to live in this dining room.
LOVE the yellow accent color and the marriage of mod dining chairs with an Industrial dining table.

A view into Pieces, her lovely shop.

Since I'm regularly relying on Pieces for Inspiration,
I put together an inspiration board for a formal living room using things from the store....

I have to say that I appreciate that Lee is a fellow pink & orange lover.
She even has separate tabs on her website to showcase pink & orange products!

Be sure to stop by Pieces, Online or In-Person and see what inspires you!

A Glam Office for Casa Bonita!

Remember my friend's house, Casa Bonita?
Well she and her man-friend are planning to turn the former nursery into their home office.

She'll be doing lots of grad-school related studying
and he'll be doing lots of work!

They asked me to help them get inspired with their new home office decor.

Sarah is very into Old Hollywood Glamour and her boyfriend Daniel is very, very simple.

A little Office Inspiration.....

My first inspiration boards are geared towards options for the room itself.
I've sort of layed it out so you can see where their desk areas area and where the windows and doors/closets are.

Option #1 is very serene & relaxed.
It still has the hint of that Old Hollywood Glamour without being too over the top.

Curtains are from West Elm
Chaise is from Ikea
Tufted Chair from High Fashion Home
Light Fixture from Shades of Light
Pillows from Etsy

Option # 2 is very Fun and has little pops of color to brighten the mood of the room!
Aqua Parson's Console from Home Decorator's Collection
Pendant Light from Horchow
Pillows from Etsy.

Now onto their desk areas....

I only needed one option for Daniel.
Simple, Clean, and Classic.

I love how the mod glass desk mingles with the industrial look of the shelving.

The desk and shelf on the left are from CB2.
The Industrial Looking shelves are from The Container Store.
The lamps are from Home Depot.
The desk chair is from High Fashion Home.

I made three different options for Sarah.

Honestly, there were so many cute things out there, I just couldn't choose!

Option # 1 is Understated Glam.

Love the mod West Elm desk miced with the pretty gold lamps from Horchow
and a retro bamboo chair on casters from Ballard Designs!
I love the pops of aqua with the Parson's Shelves from Home Decorator's
and the pillow from Etsy.

Option # 2 is based all around this fabulous gold plate and white lacquer desk
from Lily Pulitzer's new home collection.

I'm OBSESSED. I think it marry's well with these quatrefoil shelves from Home Decorator's Collection
and a soft aqua tufted chair from Ballard Designs.

I also am dying over these blush colored rock candy lamps from Shades of Light.

Option # 3 is super 1960's and very Hollywood Regency.

Love the quatrefoil desk from Home Decorator's and I added the soft aqua Parson's Shelves,
because I think the matching quatrefoil shelves would be a bit much.

I did however, go with the orange quatrefoil lamps from Shades of Light, which I think coordinate well, without being too "matchy-matchy"
The french chair from Wisteria keeps the look from going overboard Trendy Hollywood Regency.
The pillow is from Etsy, as is the orange pouf.

The chandelier adds a nice "tailored" touch to the area and is from Pottery Barn Teen.

What do you think of this inspiration for their office?

Which Room Option would you choose?
And which option for Sarah's Desk Area?

Do tell!

Fabric L-O-V-E

So, the tablescape from Rue Magazine's May/June 2011 Issue I spoke of yesterday.

CAN-NOT stop thinking about the table runner.
And the fabric of which it's made of.

Which was used in green by Tobi Fairley (whom I LOVE!)
for the wingback chairs in her living room

The fabric is by Barclay Butera

I just ADORE it.
Especially in this soft aqua color!

I think it needs to live on two slipper chairs I'm recovering for my living room.

Along with these beauties......

This is actually a filing cabinet from
Home Decorator's but I'm feelin' it as a side table....

Do tell, What Fabrics are you obsessing over lately?

Wedding Wednesday.... Two Thoughts...

For Today's Wedding Wednesday, I have two, not entirely cohesive thoughts to put out there.

Number One: Last week I was perusing one of my most favorite blogs, Design Darling.
If you haven't been, go CHECK IT OUT immediately.
Not only does the blogger have a super cool name, Mackenzie, but she has just about the best taste EVER. I like to think we could be real life besties, plus I've never met anyone fun that had the same name as me!

Anyway, I stumbled upon these gorgeous photos of Rue Magazine's cover shoot for their May/June issue and almost had a massive coronary.
Why?

Because THIS HAS TO BE my future wedding.

If you don't know yet that I want to get married in Palm Springs, you've been asleep at the wheel while reading this blog.

How FREAKIN' perfect is this event design for a delightfully casual Palm Springs affair?
Are you reading this, MOM?

And HOW CUTE are the Invites?!

And this buffet for the wedding cake and other miscellaneous sweets?

Sweet ACTION.

Number Two: Do I even need a number two after that eye candy?
Number two is that I'm really upset I'm not getting married RIGHT NOW for one reason,
and one reason only.

LOFT is selling Lela Rose Designs.
Is that a sodding joke?

And they are just the perfect little dresses for all those little wedding events.
With a pretty great price tag!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!
