Stylish Slate

I love dark hard wood floors in a kitchen.
Much like I love white clothing.

Unfortunately, neither are practical.

I go back on forth on what flooring I really like for pretty kitchens, especially those with lots of grey tones and carrera marble counters.

Slate is a fabulous option. It coordinates well with many different homes and decor styles, it's durable, and it looks amazing.

I LOVE it in this chic bathroom.

You can even use a piece of slate to make a rustic cheese board!

Gotta love Pinterest!

Colored Molding.... Are you on that gravy train?

I'll be honest. Before I saw the dazzling interior stylings of Miss Bailey from Peppermint Bliss
in her gorgeous Chicago home, I had never given any thought to moldings being a color other than white.

But I loved these gloss black moldings against the stark contrast of a white wall.

Editor's Note: I was very sad to read yesterday that Ms. Bailey is considering discontinuing her blog due to some mean comments. All those people that have WAY too much time on their hands need to find something else to do other than torture sweet and talented bloggers! I am hopeful that she will decide to keep on keepin' on, because I can't think of any other blog I would rather visit daily!

I love these coral/pink moldings in her former TV room even more!

The other day, I was perusing Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles magazine
and there they were again! Beautifully colored moldings--- This time around library shelves.

I love this bright orange color!

I love that colored moldings add contrast and interest to the room.
The best part?

It's a majorly budget friendly way to make a splash!

And while it's not technically "molding" I am LOVING the mint color of this doorway!

What do you think of brightly colored molding?
Are you on that wagon?

Guest Post from Design Shuffle!

Hi all, I’m Susi, a writer for Design Shuffle, a social media site for decorators, designers, design lovers and home owners to share ideas and projects. The best part of my job is visiting cool blogs like Mackenzie Pages and seeing what everyone is doing. I'm excited to be writing my guest post about luscious lacquered accents. I love the look and feel of lacquered surfaces in interior design, whether on walls, accessories or furniture. There is definitely something luscious about lacquer. Here are some of my favorite lacquered accents.

Lacquered Wall Finish

Gorgeous dark walls with a lacquered mirror smooth finish are so glamorous. The surface reflects the light and the gold accents in this jewel box foyer. A single wall painted in a lacquered finish would make a beautiful accent wall.

Teal Lacquered Walls

The deep teal blue of these walls is gorgeous on its own but the lacquered finish makes it into something sublime. Love how the lacquered surface reflects light.

Lacquered Trays'

Lacquered trays are a lovely lacquered accent to a coffee table, desk or vanity. Love these stylish trays for corralling clutter.

Lacquered Wall Art

Looking for living room design ideas for using small lacquered pieces? A collection of lacquered trays and plates makes a colorful collage on the wall. Subtle elements and high shine can create more visual interest.

Teal Lacquer Design

This beautiful deep teal color turns this powder room into a gem. The reflective gloss of the lacquer makes the room feel bigger and grander.

Pink Lacquer Table

Love the lacquered surface of the bubble gum pink dining table. Bright colors look amazing in shiny lacquer.

Green Kitchen Lacquer

Lacquered cabinets in kitchen designs create such a gorgeous shiny surface. The green is an interesting color that looks great with navy & white stripes.

Antique Lacquer Design

Antique lacquer pieces, like this chest and screen, have a very different feeling to them. Traditional lacquer is not paint but layers of resin that is tinted with decorative painted patterns on the surface.

Lacquer is a great way to add a glamorous accent to your interiors! Check out Design Shuffle for more great interior design ideas and to connect with San Francisco interior designers, Boston interior designers and more!

I had so much fun visiting Mackenzie Pages today!  ~Susi

Wedding Wednesday.... THINK PINK!

I love pink. I realize that I'm in the minority, as some people HATE it.
That being said, we all have been to those "Pink" weddings.

The one's where it's abundantly clear that the bride not only loves pink
but also identifies with Barbie on more than one level.
Weird.

I do however, love when pink is incorporated into Wedding style
in an understated, chic way.

Lately, I'm really into it when paired with gold.

I just LOVE gold flatware. It's so fun and different!

These macaroons look like heaven.

I'm also in LOVE with blush wedding dresses.

And the flowers----Oh, the flowers!

Do you think pink?

I DO like Green---Sam I Am!

When I was going through my Shabby Chic phase, I was majorly into light green.
After finding my way out of that overly floral tunnel, I had a long-standing aversion to green.

Recently however, I've found myself lifting out of it and returning to my green obsession with a new outlook--and hopefully a more "chic" stance this time round.

I'm loving it in fashion.

And wedding style.

And of course in chic door foliage.

I'm realizing that in the right shade it can be SO sophisticated.

And a far cry from the shabby chic or super preppy decor stages.

I'm loving it in these retro bar stools--- and ya'll LOOK at those mint cabinets.
TO DIE FOR.

Loving it in my favorite Celerie Kemble Hot-House Flowers print!

Or in a deep moss green velvet--- How great would this look on a tufted sofa or chair?

It looks sophisticated when mixed with blush pink.

And oh-so-darling when mixed with mint or aqua!

Love these window treatments!

What's your take?

Do you have green ENVY or not so much?

Fabulous D-Town Abode!

I do believe I've shared the beauty-full-ness that is Tillman's Roadhouse ( a fabulous Texas-Urban restaurant with Fort Worth and Oak Cliff Locations) on more than one occasion.

What I did not know, is that the fabulous design stylings came from Co-Owners Rob Dailey and Todd Fiscus, who own the eatery along with Sarah Tillman.

Rob Dailey is a wonderful interior designer and Todd Fiscus owns Todd Events, which plans the most drop-dead amazing weddings on this side of the Mississippi.

Their Kessler Park house in Dallas is even more FAB.

Take a gander.
