Wedding Wednesday.... Go BIG or Go HOME!

There are several "New" wedding ideas that have been an acquired taste for me.

A First Look, for instance, an idea I'm now obsessed with , didn't sit right with me at first.

Another trend whose bandwagon I did not immediately jump on, is the reception dress.

I suppose because I didn't realize at first how limitless the possibilities are.

At first, I viewed the "Reception Dress" as a short version of your wedding gown that you could move and dance easily in.

The ONE day in your life where you can wear a long white gown and you want to shorten it?
It just seemed silly to me.

Until I realized that short, white numbers were merely the tip of a very large iceberg.

My new attitude towards reception dresses is like this:

GO BIG, OR GO HOME.

Basically, leave the boring, short, white reception dress at the store and have fun with the dress you'll be twirling around in.

Loving these examples....

Like the gorgeous photos that were posted on Elements of Style last week:

This bride wore a beaded Jenny Packham

Now, Style Blogger Bailey of Peppermint Bliss
OBVIOUSLY understands my GBOGH theory!

I Die over her gorgy Gold Lame Monique Lhuillier stunner!

I've poked around a little, and decided that the gowns from
Jenny Packham's Ready to Wear collection are by far the best Reception Dress candidates.

For my own purposes, I'm still pretty stuck on this retro version from BHLDN

So please Ladies, try not to make us snooze at the sight of your reception dress!

What do you think of this new wedding trend?

I have always been hesitant towards the idea too. BUT if I could wear one of those Jenny Packham numbers, I think I would warm up to it pretty quickly.

Oh fer sure! I can't get over JP's gorgeous lines, draping, beading...um *EVERYTHING* about her gowns is just stunning...in a very streamlined and sophisticated way. Genius. I wish this was a big ol' trend when I tied the knot, I'd have been all over it (c: Until the hubby told me that was ridiculous to pay for *two* way overpriced dresses...whatev.
