Fun Feature!

Have you seen the May issue of House Beautiful yet?
It's a REALLY good one.

Surprisingly, one of my favorite features wasn't even a full on project,
but a one day home office makeover done by designer, Nate Berkus.

It's smart, modern and fun.

Dying over the black tuxedo sofa mixed with the pretty Murano glass light fixture and the mod leather chairs.

The zebra covered bench is fab too.

It also made me aware that West Elm is now selling Mongolian Lambskin pillows in multiple colors.

Which I am super into.

That's all for now.

The New 'IT' bag Obsession.

I've been out of the "it" bag circuit for a while.

I'm not sure why, I just haven't been that interested in purses lately,
and therefore haven't gone super 'ga-ga' for anything.

Until TODAY, when I saw this beaut.
Prada. Ostrich. Gold. Minty-Aqua.

Two words---YES. Please.

To the tune of $6,000+, it's not exactly in my price range----but it totally makes me want more affordable options in these colors!

Like pillows made with Schumacher's Shantung Silhouette in Mineral

Or this aqua & ivory CocoCozy throw

Accessorized with a gilt piggy....

Or Mod gold sea urchins.

Design Obsesh.....Sally Wheat Spices up West U!

I currently reside in Fort Worth, but I grew up in Houston, TX.

The neighborhood I grew up in, West University, is exactly the type of place where you would expect Ward & June Cleaver to pop out at any moment. Very traditional, very buttoned up.

That being said, when I was growing up it seemed like a few of the West U. moms got together and unanimously voted on a decor style for their homes. Because more often than not, everyone's home looked like a slight variation of the others.

West U. has grown a ton since my parents moved there twenty years ago, and people have gotten a little more "adventurous" with their style.

When I learned of West U resident and decorator, Sally Wheat a few years ago, I was instantly refreshed at her fabulous and insightful take on decorating her home.

Back then, she had a neutral, frenchy aesthetic, with a little glamour thrown in for good measure.
I just love how her taste has evolved, with influences from mid-century design, Hollywood glamour, and British mod.

I am so very inspired by her designs. They are effortlessly chic in the way I aspire to be.

Take a gander.....

Sally has a booth at Memorial Antiques & Interiors in Houston, which I have yet to visit, but I am DYING to go. Namely, because she creates super fabulous treats, like this custom python desk.

YES PLEASE.

Sally's home is featured in the debut issue of Modern Luxury Interiors Texas magazine this month.

I was a doscent when her house debuted on the West U home tour last spring and I had the best time!

I have been dying for photos of Sally's house to surface since then, and I was so excited when copies of the magazine arrived at my office the other day!

How perfect are the Milo Baughman style chairs covered in David Hick's La Fiorentina?
I just think they're to die.

Ms. Sally Wheat herself.
Seriously, what a doll.

Her dining room is easily the most fabulous I've ever seen. I love how she's mixed the modern elements of the chairs and mongolian wool bench with the classic French & Italian styles of her dining table and chandelier.

NEON Obsession.

So, Let's talk about how I have a really unhealthy obsession with neon things right now.

Like, I can't stop buying neon clothing, shoes, purses.

And I'm completely drawn to anything in a neon hue.

And then, Let's talk about how my favorite designers are NOT helping with this problem.
Because they keep making ADORABLE, brightly colored merchandise.

Kate Spade

Sheridan French

J. Crew

Ohhhh, The Agony.

Do you love neon for spring & summer?

That extra something.....Leopard Print.

In the right amount, leopard print can add the extra drop of fun to any situation.
A fun pair of leopard pumps to spice up a neutral outfit.

Or the shot of leopard print into your interior to take it to the next level.

I especially love the leopard in a rug.

Which is why I'm seriously considering this leopard indoor/outdoor rug
from Ballard Designs for my living room.

Thoughts?

What if your dream house went on the market?

I literally almost had a fender bender over this sight the other day.

Why? Because it's my dream house and it is currently FOR SALE.
And it's oh so fabulous!

I've been dying to see the inside for ages.
And while I'm sure that the listing photos barely do it justice, I was super
excited to see the inside.

The house looks to be in such good original condition and really in my opinion just needs a few good paint jobs, some fabulous wallpaper and good lighting choices.
This kitchen however, is sadsville.

I think it's dying for a makeover.

A little bit of this action....

Now, who wants to loan me some money for my dream house?
I'll be taking donations!
